Parlay Bets Explained

Parlay Bet – A bet that links together two or more wagers; to win the bet one must win all the wagers in the parlay. The player wins a higher payoff than if the bets were made separately.

What Is a Parlay Bet?

A parlay bet (AKA accumulator, combo bet or multi) is one bet, on the same card, on multiple games or events. To win you must win all bets on your card, which makes it very difficult. But with greater risk comes greater rewards, parlay bets pay more.

Let’s say you think the New York Yankees and the New York Giants are going to win there next games (I guess NY is on a hot streak). The Yankees will beat the Sox and the Giants will beat the Dallas Cowboys. You can buy separate cards and win both separately (or loss both or win one lose one) and win smaller odds than if you had put them on one card and won the Parlay, with bigger odds and bigger payout.

Types of Parlays

Round Robin parlays and Teasers are the most common types of parlays.

Round Robin

A Round Robin bet is an easy way to wager multiple parlays with a single bet. So these are multiple parley bets on one card, multiple, multiples.

Teasers

A teaser is a bet that combines two difference games but the bettor can adjust the point spreads. This then lowers the odds and therefore lowers the prize.

Many bettors prefer teasers because it gives you a some leeway with the extra point spread.
